SHORT LEXICON OF KUNG FU

THREE TRANSCRIPTION SYSTEMS

There are currently several systems of transcription of the Chinese sounds.

The three more known are :

1. Wade, created by the English sinologist Thomas Wade.

2. the system of the French School of the Far East (E.F.E.O), created by several French sinologists.

3. the Pinyin system, created in People's Republic of China

In the countries of Anglo-Saxon culture, people generally use the Wade system.

In France, two systems currently coexist : that of the E.F.E.O. and that of Pinyin, which one finds in the large dictionaries.

We make for our part call either to the Pinyin transcription, or the Wade transcription, according to cases.
